Step 1- Verification & ConsentsList Item 1
After you schedule an appointment, your insurance will be verified. Once verification is completed, you will be sent standard consent forms. Please ensure these are completed and payment method saved before the appointment.
-
Step 2- HistoryList Item 2
Our first appointment will involve some history taking. In order to get to know you, identify your problems, and create a treatment plan, we will need to know about your life. Medical history, psychiatric history, family history, and social history are all important to establish in order to move forward. Please have a list of all medications you currently take ready.
-
Step 3- Evaluation and DiagnosisList Item 3
Next, we will discuss what your presenting problem, or current issue is. We will work together to create a "problem list" and then prioritize those issues. Relevant diagnoses will be identified.
-
Step 4- PlanList Item 4
After problems and diagnoses have been identified, we will work together to formulate a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs and preferences. It is important that you always let us know if you have questions or concerns at each point along the way. Our goal is to ensure you are comfortable and on board with your plan.
-
Step 5- Labs
Don't be surprised to have labs ordered for your mental health! It is imperative that all new patients receive some standard labs to ensure that there are no medical issues that may be contributing to your problems. For example, low thyroid hormone or low Vitamin D levels can mimic symptoms of depression. Going forward, yearly labs will be vital to monitor for any changes that some medications can cause.
-
Step 6- Developing a Relationship
Over the next several sessions, whether they include medication management, psychotherapy, or both, we will continue to get to know each other. We will work together to help you meet your goals and help you feel your best. Remember, we're in this together now.
